This week I read a very informative and motivating book by Pamela McLean on how to, not only be a leader, but also be a coach. The book is written by Pamela McLean, the CEO and cofounder of the Hudson Institute for Coaching. She is an experienced coach who has for many years used clinical and organizational psychology to provide the high-quality coaching and development training to professionals in organizations. It gives nuggets of wisdom on how to understand organizational systems and the best global practices in this dynamic world. As you peruse through the pages, you will realise that the best coaches are indeed leaders, and the best leaders are coaches. It will equip you with the meta-skills of developing oneself as well as getting into fruitful relationships with others.

Self as Coach, Self as Leader centers around the idea of utilization of self as instrument—a key measurement in the act of formative coaching. While strategic or results-based coaching might be an immediate solution to a client, formative coaching places a lot of emphasis on the whole being of a person. The meta-skills of Self as Coach give mentors and pioneers a guide for investigating their inside scene to reinforce the utilization of self as the most significant device in training. Both coaches and leaders will figure out how to reinforce and outfit the six wide measurements fundamental laid down in the book and which are key to developing one’s leadership and coaching abilities.
