The world is currently going through a stressful time. It is a time where each and every one of us has to go back to the drawing board and find ways we can deal with this pandemic that has brought the whole world into a standstill. We have to accept that we are all stressed, and not so many people anticipated this. Many of us knew 2020 will be a smooth year only for COVID-19 to change our perspective. We are already halfway through the year, and things don't seem to get any better; people are left anxious and stressed at the same time. It is important to note that we are bound to face stressful situations quite often, but how we deal with situations is what matters. What we are currently dealing with is a change in lifestyle, we are not living as we used to, and this has affected many of us. Some people are already feeling overwhelmed because they will have to deal with this for an extended period of time.
Since several individuals never looked forward to such a year, which is unique, they were least prepared and have no idea how to cope with stressful moments such as this. It is a challenging time for everyone as we are all facing a life crisis; the only thing we can do is try some of the stress relief strategies that can help. The good news is these are strategies we can incorporate in our daily lives that are likely to change our perspective of the situation at hand.
We should try and have a positive attitude during this time. We cannot control what we are facing but have a choice on how to deal with it. We are in charge of our thoughts and our view of a particular situation. Yes, it might be a difficult time, but, what are you doing as a person to ensure you remain positive, and it does not affect your physical and mental health? Our attitude will determine how we face a challenge; do we see it as a threat or something we can deal with? Attitude is likely to affect our stress levels that later affects the outcome of our actions. This is the time where we need to be positive about all that is going on. We need to believe that this will end soon; we will go back to our normal lives as everything seems abnormal. This has somehow affected our mental health.
It is time to try as much as possible and build our resilience. How can we do this? There are activities we can undertake to help reduce stress. We all know there is less we can do at the moment to change this situation but we can still reduce the stress we are facing by engaging in certain activities that promotes resilience and make us feel less stressed. It is time for us to try and take good care of ourselves. Self-care is very important. Let's focus more on taking care of our bodies; let us eat healthily and exercise more at the same time. Exercise helps blow off steam and helps us become less reactive to stress.
Let us embrace change. A lot has changed this year though it has not ended yet. Let us learn to be more adaptable during this crisis. By doing so, we will be well equipped to deal with the pandemic. We should see this moment as an opportunity for us to branch into new directions. It is time to be more productive and adaptive. In the end, we will only see the positives rather than the negatives.
